Tămpa is one of the symbols of the city of Brasov and is positioned right in the center of it. Here it is also the highest point in the city, at about 960 m.
The mountain belongs to the Postăvaru massif and a large part of it is established as a natural reserve and protected area at the national level.
The top of Mount Tampa can be reached on various roads, one of them being formed by the 25 streamers that start from the old town and were made by the Forestry District in 1837.
Another road, the Gabony steps or the Knights road, starts from Șcheii Brașov and dates from the old city of Brasov, and there is another road, called by the locals "to the Rabbit", which starts from the valley of the Fortress (Răcătăului). A cable car that can be taken from the city center and that reaches the top of the mountain in three minutes.
