Built at the will of President Georg Von Weer, the building was initially the seat of the Hungarian Court in Brasov and was seen in the land book as "The Palace of the Court, Prison, and Workshop" The construction of the building lasted 2 years between 1900 and 1902 and is again included in List of Historical Monuments in Romania. Nicolae Ceausescu was held from February to August 1936 in the penitentiary of this building, and the trial took place at the current Zonal Military Center.
The building has an interesting story, considering that until the establishment of the communist regime it functioned as a court. Then with the communist regime, it became the headquarters of the PCR (Roman Communist Party) in the Stalin region. In 1987, more precisely, on November 15, the protesters of the Brașov revolt had four in this building and threw on the window several pictures with the dictator of that time Nicolae Ceausescu.
From 1993 until now on the 2nd floor but also on the 3rd floor of the building, the Brașov Court of Appeal operates and on the other floors the Brasov Prefecture and the county council. Although public institutions work in this building, it is nice to visit because it has a special appearance and is a construction that is different from the others.
For those who visit Brasov, I can pay a visit to this building.
